Frequently Asked Questions About TW Filter Driers
Q. What is Fluorescent Leak Detection?
A. Spectronics Corporation invented this technology in 1955. It helps HVAC professionals easily find fluid leaks in air conditioning and refrigeration systems. All you need is fluorescent dye and a UV lamp
Q. How does it work?
A. First, add dye to the system and let it circulate. As the dye moves with the refrigerant, it collects at leak points. Then, scan the system with a UV lamp, and leaks will glow brightly.
Q. Will using dye void my equipment’s warranty?
A. Not if you choose the right dye. Spectroline dyes are co-solvent-free, NSF-certified, and highly concentrated. They are approved by manufacturers like Copeland, Carrier, and Whirlpool and remain safe in systems for their entire lifespan.
Q. How much dye should I use?
A. Use 4 ml for 2 L of lubricant, 6 kg of refrigerant, or 5 tons of cooling capacity. A dosage chart is always included.
Q. What types of leaks can it detect?
A. Spectroline products can identify all types of leaks, even tiny ones as small as 3 ml per year or those that only appear under pressure.
Q. Is AR-GLO® dye compatible with all refrigerants, including R-410a?
A. Yes, AR-GLO® works with all refrigerant gases and lubricants.
Q. Do I need to evacuate the system?
A. No, the dye works even when the system is running.
Q. How long does it take to find a leak?
A. In smaller systems, just seconds. Larger systems may take a few hours. Using TW Filter Driers with AR-GLO® makes regular inspections fast and easy.
